repost from bash site

I fully expect more. I'll be sending out a 12 page color brochure next week to about 4000 people all prospects that either have T buckets or want a T. Some may have had a T and sold it but they are all current leads. The first year we hosted the event in Mountain Home we spent a lot of money and time promoting the event. In 05 I believe there were about 200 buckets here.

In 06 we did much less promotion and by the end of winter and all the opinions about the event on another board I just wanted to get it over with and move on to a Spirit only event. I think we had a few less buckets in 06 but the event was much easier to put on logistically and I think it was better than the year before as an event.

Last year instead of doing the Spirit friends and family reunion which was the party at my house on the Tues before the National event we decided to create the Buckethead Bash as an annual event and brand it. We have intended to do a T event in Mountain Home since we started the company back in 94. Some perceived it as a plot to kill another organizations event and there was some conflict. Our numbers were down last year maybe 30% percent but the Fun factor for me at least was up 200% and the community and general enthusiasm was equally high. I think most everyone who was here last year was here because they wanted to have a good time and not just because it was an event they went to every year and did not want to miss one.

This year I believe we have a core who just enjoy the area, the event, and the people and will be back cuz Mountain Home is there second home. we have many who have not been able to make it and will finally be able to get here for the first time. Also there is a large group who are new to the hobby. Maybe cuz they bought a Spirit bucket (and there are many) or got a bucket some where else but in any case they what to experience the fun. The Bash site is in it's second year and the Tbucketeers.com site has been a positive experience and both are helping exposure. There are many other reasons to believe we have hit our stride and can expect to see the event grow in ways that will continue to surprise many.

So how many buckets will we have? you guess. All I know is I plan on pegging the meter on the fun scale. Sooooo Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

First let me say I'm a member of the NTBA and I for one as I feel many others do not buy into the theory that the BucketHead Bash as an event meant to diminish the NTBA Nats event... As far as I'm concerned, that's as ludicrous as saying Disney World was built to put Disneyland out of business! As both of these locations are about having family oriented fun, I believe the Nat's and the BucketHead Bash are opportunities for Bucketheads to have fun with their cars, family, and friends at either event. If I lived in Kansas City or St Louis, I'd be going to both of these events... Double the fun and less round trip miles for both events than just 1/3 of the miles one way for me to attend either event! (OK... is my jealousy a little to obvious?).

Some day... I'll get to make one or both of these great events and I assure you, when I do, I'm going to have some big-time fun meeting face to face the people that I've come to know on various forums, and see everyone's projects full scale... dang it... Now I'm all bummed out
