Texas DMV register

A question for you guys in Texas. I was wondering what you guys had to go through on getting your T's registered in the Lone Star state. Mine has the title that came with it that I purchased from TP. The only thing that I was wondering is how that title will affect my register since is says 2007 Total T

Re: Texas DMV register

Mine is titled as a 1915 Ford Roadster using an old 1915 New York registration I bought way back then. But it was done atleast 15 years ago and was not as hard as it is now. Ever since that crap happened in CA with Boyd Coddington things are or can be alittle sticky. That Bill will not be passed or go into effect for awhile so good luck. I do not know about titling using a TP bill or paperwork, but I bet it ain't easy.

Re: Texas DMV register

I did mine similar to what BlownT did. I bought a NY registration, they didn't title cars in 1923, from a guy in NY. I had to have a Statement of origin explaining why it hadn't been registered in so long. The registration came with a bill of sale. Walk into the DMV in Denton, TX and told them I wanted to Title my 1923 Ford Model T. They looked at my paperwork and said OK, pay this amount in fees and taxes and you'll get your title in about a week. At the same time I requested Antique plates and they arrived in about two weeks. At no point did I mention hot rod, street rod, kit, modified, etc. It's simply a 1923 Ford Model T. That was 10 years ago. My Dad has been trying to find a title for his T for about a month now. Ever since Boyd and Unique Performance got busted, titles for old cars became scarce. HB2412 will help that alot. I understand it was passed unanimously out of committee and is on the way to the full legislature. The author believes it will pass with no problem this session and go in to effect this year.
