The RPO codes for S10 rear gears are as follows:

GU4=3.08
GU5=3.23
GU6=3.42
GT4=3.73
GT5=4.10
HC4=4.56
G80=locking Differential

Hit it with a hammer and if that doesn't fix it, you have an electrical problem.

Most all of the ones we have gotten have been 3.73 ratio with a few being 4.10.

As far as I know, those numbers are only on the build sheet that is affixed to the glove box. At least that is where I always found them on the S10's that I have owned.

P.S. Some rear ends have two numbers stamped on the ring gear. These numbers are the number of teeth on the ring gear and the pinion. Divide one into the other and you'll have the ratio. If there are no numbers, start counting.

If you look near the center section on the top front of the passenger axle tube you will find the gear ratio stamped into the axle tube itself.I hope I'm making myself clear but if you clean the passenger axle tube in this area the numbers are there if I remember correctly the tooth counts are posted not 3.73 or 4.11 but the actual # of teeth on each gear
